Redeeming qualities
While the omni-being has many human traits, such as empathy for his family, he is inhuman when it comes to compassion and caring for others. During Episode 2, he kills a civilization of humans, telling them that Earth was not theirs to conquer, but their property. However, he later tries to convince Mark that he doesn’t care about having emotions, since it is not his place to be on earth.
The arc of his redemption is not particularly clear. Though the character has committed numerous atrocities, he still possesses a certain moral nuance. For example the fact that his family is his first priority. As such, his gradual decline builds up to a satisfying final confrontation with his son, revealing the darker side of parenting. In this way, the character’s redemption is a believable, yet complex character arc.

Omni-Man is the main character in the television series Star Trek: Voyager. His origins are unknown, but it is assumed that he comes from Viltrum, a planet in the solar system that was once home to the strongest empire in the galaxy.
