A real-life Krusty Krab restaurant has opened in Houston, Texas and it’s packed with SpongeBob SquarePants nostalgia. The nostalgic element makes it a must-visit destination for all Nickelodeon fans. Top facts about the Krusty Krab
The Krusty Krab Houston from SpongeBob SquarePants has moved from Bikini Bottom and landed in Houston. The new restaurant, located in Houston, is modeled after one of TV’s most popular restaurants. Even its name–Krusty Krab–is taken straight from SpongeBob.
At almost 9,000 square feet, it’s large enough to hold nearly 100 guests inside. Once you step through its doors, you’ll be greeted by an aquarium and an animatronic Mr. Krabs who will make sure you feel like a regular as soon as you enter.
They served over 50,000 Burgers
The Krusty Krab restaurant Houston served over 50,000 hamburgers, 8,500 orders of fries, and 5,000 orders of chips. Customers even went to great lengths to get their hands on one of Burger Week’s specials. Some people drove to Louisiana just for one!
The entrance looks like a real-life version of Mr. Krabs’ office
As you walk inside, you’ll immediately feel like you’re inside of The Krusty Krab! SpongeBob-themed seating fills out all of their space. You can even take a picture with your favorite sponge on their couch. And if you’re hungry enough to crave some good old-fashioned seafood, don’t worry, they serve that too!
On the left, you’ll find Squidward’s art studio
The upper level has an unfinished masterpiece, while below you’ll find a gallery of his works. Plus, there are other works from other artists, such as paintings by John James Audubon and Jean-François Millet. Just be sure to come hungry: the Krusty Krab Texas features ten different kinds of burgers on its menu (which changes monthly), all inspired by characters from Nickelodeon shows.
Next, you’ll see an undersea bathroom in the men’s restroom
The first thing you’ll notice upon entering The Krusty krab restaurant Houston is that it looks exactly like Bikini Bottom, home of television’s favorite sea sponge. To your left and right are coral reefs (complete with starfish!) made out of painted fiberglass, and a mural featuring images from all three incarnations of SpongeBob SquarePants decorates one wall.
In the women’s restroom, there are brightly colored tiles with wild sea creatures painted on them
An octopus, a shark, and SpongeBob himself. Colorful plastic fish float above each stall. In one bathroom stall, there are cartoonish yellow footprints over an image of kelp. The artist’s signature is signed off with SpongeBong Krabs.
In another stall, King Neptune crowns a cartoonish version of himself as his royal subjects look on adoringly. This bathroom has no indication that it isn’t part of your childhood home where you spent countless hours devouring episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants on Nickelodeon.
But then again, everything at the Krusty Krab Texas seems designed to take guests back to their younger years and keep them there.
Like at SpongeBob’s pineapple house, there are windows shaped like starfish and framed jellyfish hanging from the ceiling inside
There are even fake jellyfish hanging from the ceiling! It looks just like Squidward’s house. Then head over to section seven of the Krusty Krab Houston TX for your very own personal chef, where you’ll have your pick of 25 different seafood toppings and three special sauce choices.
