What is a typical match?
A typical match is played between two teams of 11 players each. One team bats, trying to score runs, and the other team bowls or fields, trying to dismiss the batsmen. The team that dismisses the most number of opposing batsmen is declared the winner.
There are six innings in a cricket match. In an innings, each team bats 6 times and bowls (field) once. This means there are 2 overs per over or 17 deliveries per over in total. Bowlers deliver around 10-12 balls in an over and a batsman will generally hit the ball with a bat 4-6 times before they are out, who has scored the most runs by then being declared the winner of that particular game or set of games (if it’s a tie).
Who are the teams?
England, New Zealand, Australia, Bangladesh, India, Zimbabwe
Australia is currently ranked number one in the world and is considered to be the best team in the world.
How are matches scheduled?
